The Club background

The Timmax athletic club has 252 members and 92 active athletes have been promoted especially through
training exercises and events/races sponsorship.

The very first active athletes of timmax athletics are:

1999.

The first International success of the Timmax athletic Club was back to the year 1999 when the three junior athletes won the first ever team Bronze medal in the IAAF World cross Count championships.
It was in Belfast when all three members from Timmax Athletic Club finished 3rd in the IAAF World junior cross Country championships. These three athletes are: Faustin Baha, Martin Sulle and Michael Hiiti.


2000

The year 2000 was also the memorial year for the Timmax athletic Club as Faustin Baha, 18 years by then run the first and ever sub 60 minutes in half marathon when he finished fourth behind Paul Tergat ahd Hendy Ramala in Lisbon half Marathon. Baha’s time of 59.36 still stand as the first ever fastest time to be ever ran by the Tanzania in the down hill course of Lisbon.
Later on that year Faustin Baha again became the first Tanzania to win the first silver Medal for the Country when he finished second in the IAAF World half marathon Champs in Vera Cruz Mexico.


2001

The years 2001 was the year when the star of the Multi national record holder in long distance John Yuda start shining! It started with multiple winning in Road and Cross Country races, and end the year with the bronze Medal in the IAAF World half marathon championships.


2002

The year 2002 was the historical year for the Timmax athletic Club. That was the year when John Yuda break three national records in 5000m 13.03, 10,000m – 27.06 and half Marathon 1.00.02
As if that was not enough Yuda again add in his cv the first ever Senior cross Country Silver Medal when he finished behind Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia,
Few weeks later in Brussels he repeated his bronze medal in the IAAF World half Marathon championships. and in the summer of the year 2002 John Yuda again add another bronze medal in his and Club’s CV when he clinched third in the Commonwealth games in Manchester.


2003

That historical win in the IAAF World half Marathon championships when the Tannzania team nipped their neighbors Kenya and Ethiopia by winning the team Gold in the IAAF World half Marathon championships. This time the squad was lead by the Junior Fabiano Joseph (Only 17 by then) Martin Sulle and John Yuda.


2004

Baha win his first Marathon ever in Karstad Ruhr Marathon.
Timmax AC. Enter two athletes to the Olympic team. Silver Medal for Fabiano Joseph in the IAAF World junior athletic championships and the second Silver for Fabian again in the World half Marathon championships.

Sambu Andrea Sipe register his PB and fastest time of the year when he finished second in JoongAng Seoul marathon by running 2.09.52
